The Museum of Aquitaine and the Jean Moulin National Center show a double exhibition dedicated to the propaganda posters which were plastered on the walls of various french cities during World War I (1914 – 1918) and World War II (1939 – 1945).

This special event brings two major historical conflicts closer while we used to compartmentalize them.
Indeed, the highly symbolic side of the propaganda shows us the similarities between the methods used through History to encourage the mobilization of a population against the enemy. The verbal and graphic techniques were focused on producing the same impact. A wide variety of themes are addressed, changing according to the circumstances. The artists used a specific way of communicating that served the current ideologies.

This exhibition owes its relevance to the remarkable collection of posters lent by M. Vincent Caliot, a discerning collector. The most representative pieces will be gathered into a catalog.
